Re: Happiness Forum

Well, not to sound korny...but being in love makes me the happiest. My husband
and I have been married for 40 years...and dated 3 years before that. And we still
have the best ... most fun relationship. Now I'm not talking about 'partying' fun...I'm talking about working together in our gardens...cutting our own firewood (we just stacked 10 big truck loads beside our workshop...to let it cure for next
winter). We have 5 acres in the country, which isn't that much ground. But he's
a perfectionist...so it all has to be kept neat and tidy. Each spring we work the
perimeter of our property...cutting low limbs, etc. And we have several gardens,
a 2 1/2 acre secret garden that we work at on and off all the time, adding little
'rooms' or whatever...there are very neat paths that lead this way and that...part
of it is a woodland path...that leads through the corner of a small woods.
We have a huge vegetable garden...we make it extra big so there is lots to give away. We have strawberry, & blueberry patches and nut trees. Also a big grape
arbor..a big cottage garden and huge herb garden. So there's plenty to do without
ever leaving our home...and we love doing all of it.
We sit on our big back porch that faces a bluff...in the evenings and listen to the
owls, coyotes, ...and the little critters like the crickets, frogs, etc.
I'm 60, my husband is 61, but life is soooooooooooooo good ... no matter what your age, etc when you're really in love and best friends to boot. We just do everything
together...and so far...so good! :-) And to 'me'...that's happiness!!!

Lifespromise...you mentioned woods and wildlife making you happy...I wish you
could come for a visit and walk along my woodland path. We'd have a blast...walking
in my peaceful secret garden and solving the problems of the world. :-)
And 'wildlife'...I feed a herd of 17 deer that just walks around on our 5 acres
like they own the place. They'll come right up to the house. And we have raccoons, and every now and then we'll see a fox or 2.
