Re: Bowel cleanse while nursing?

You could always use certain foods to clean the bowels gently. I just read about wakame (one of the seaweeds) being a good promoter of bowel movements. Small amounts of things like prunes, broths made with Celery & the like, and doing things like eating only until you're full, will all help things move along! Sometimes I just skip a meal if I'm not hungry. Sometimes I get caught up in the habit of eating & end up eating when I'm not hungry...maybe overeating isn't a problem for you.

Some find that flaxseed helps move things out. I personally found that soaking the ground flaxseed in water for several hours improved this effect, and I read that this makes it easier for the body to digest anyway.

One of the keys to BMs anyway, I think, is getting easily-absorbed nutrients (preferably in the form of food) into the body. That can be difficult if you are very clogged up - perhaps the absorptive power is decreased when lots of room is taken up by old food.

Probiotics...you can make your own cultured foods. I like sauerkraut (the live kind, obviously), and many swear by it for helping the intestines.

I like the principles of Weston A. Price for nutrition...www.westonaprice.org
