My friend the OB/GYN is studying iodine
I just came back from breakfast with my oldest friend who happens to be an OB/GYN. Since I've started practicing alternative medicine we've had some very intense debates, and this has made me stop discussing my protocols with her. I love my friend. She works in a clinic for poor latinas in So. Ca. and has eschewed the medicine for money mentality. But at the end of the day her training is purely allopathic.
She is going back to grad school to study infectious disease. She is very well traveled and had contracted malaria in Africa, Hepititis in India, as well a few other jungle fevers. She feels like this is her calling.
But this breakfast was different. I've been emailing her links to allopathic websites about iodine. The first ah ha moment were her readings about
Iodine for water purification. Then she started reading the sites I sent her, as well as doing her own research.
It seems that for over a month now she has been (off the record) telling her patients about Iodine. She was surprised to hear about the protocol with Vit C, Selenium and Salt water. She was writing everything down and asked me to send her some more information. She asked me about my side effects, my doseages, how long I take it and time of day....I could see the people at the next table stop talking and listen intently to us. I could tell the two women were dying to ask us what we were talking about.
After breakfast we went to her car and she felt me up LOL! I've had her give me pap smears and breast exams in the past, and she is aware of my lumpy breasts. She was surprised (and I think so were the other people in the parking lot at the time). I know I've had a change, but to see the look on my girlfriends face was priceless.
She has always used
Iodine in some of her procedures, but seriously never thought about taking it internally. She is very interested in how this could be used in her studies for infectious disease, and said that she will pursue this as part of her course of study. She said that absolutely you can't be hurt by the doseages I was taking, and there is much that she has read about how they do purify the water in foreign countries without truly effecting peoples thyroids. Apparently there is much written about this that you cannot get on the internet and she said those studies on the effects of
Iodine in foreign countries is vast and would probably be of great interest to the people on this forum. Studies that discuss doseages over long term in particular.
Of course then the subject of flouride came up and that pretty much ended our talk. Her way of thinking is that adults do not need flouride, but small amounts of it is essential for developing teeth. Damn, I guess you can't have it all, even though I am going to slip some info to her about this.
All in all it was a stellar experience. I'm very proud of her. And I got an A+ on my breast exam, and probably thrilled a few guys walking around.
Just thought I'd share my experience with this forum.
