Re: nano-tekkies: what is "foamy carbon"?

I believe the PVP you are talking about is Poly vinyl pyrrolidone. The following information was excerpted from a Wikipedia entry. It is a water-soluble polymer made from the monomer N-vinyl pyrrolidone. It is soluble in water and other polar solvents. The monomer is carcinogenic and is extremely toxic to aquatic life. However the polymer PVP in its pure form is so safe that not only is it edible by humans... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyvinylpyrrolidone#Properties
I am unsure of where you can get it. And as for the "foamy carbon" I don't know what it is and I googled it and still cannot find an answer. If you can't find the answer you maybe you should go ask a pharmacologist at your local drug store, I just thought that they might know, I'm not sure. It's worth a try. No harm in asking.
