Iodine Therapy/Fibrocystic Breast Disease (OLD) "RN"
Dang! I can't believe I found this one! This was originally posted about 2 mos. ago... :)

I must say that the inception of this forum has been a life-changing experience for me. I have fibroids in one breast, have had it for years. It is something that I though I would just have to live with...now, in all my reading, I have never come across a fibrocystic disease/
Breast Cancer connection..until I listened to the Dr. Stan/Dr. Flescha radio interview posted by V:
//www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=827952#i
I was quite worried to learn of the connection, also quite relieved to hear that this condition can be cured with IODINE! I must add that I'm also quite annoyed that this is not common knowledge, as it is quite a simple and inexpensive therapy, and addresses the root cause of fibros,
Iodine deficiency. Breast tissue requires quite a lot of
Iodine for proper function, and the body will take from the breast before the thyroid.
So, immediately after listening to the program, I ordered my
Lugol's and I began therapy 8 days ago:). There are a couple of links that discuss orthoiodine supplementation for fibrocystic disease in great depth. If you(and it is said that 80-90% of American women have this at some point)suffer this, please study these links. Fibrocystic disease is CURED with the use of iodine!
So my next challenge was to try to figure out dosing:
In this link:
http://iodine4health.com/body/breast/eskin_ghent_breast.htm
The dosing device that they used this the study had 13.65 total mg. of iodine. per 70 ml.(aqueous solution, I believe) The unit was designed to dispense 50 doses of 20 ml, totalling 1000 ml. The patients recieved one dose per day, could be doubled if no effects observed. Sooo, according to MY math(highly questionable), each dose provided .273 mg. of iodine.
In this link:
http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ISW/is_256/ai_n6258834
The dosage was 0.08 mg/kg of body weight. 50 kg = 110
lbs. which would be only four milligrams a day. I need 4.912(5) mg.(I weigh 135) , according to that study.
So, two studies, two vastly different amounts used for dosing. We also have the daily requirement for iodine(NOT the U.S. RDA, which is set criminally low), which, in all of my reading, seems to be from 12-15 mg. for women(8-12 mg. for men). So, that's what I decided to go with. Over two times as much as the highest dosage in the two studies. I fgure that, with my condition, I must REALLY need it!
*edit* I am taking 1 drop Lugol's(6 mg.) 2x per day
So, my
Iodine experience thus far...immediately after taking my first drop, I had an amazing feeling of heightened awareness & the body rushes came soon after. This heightened awareness has persisted, to the point of it disturbing my sleep. I also experienced head pressure, no full-on headache, but uncomfortable. It did level off after a few days, although I still was not getting enough sleep. I also experienced some looseness of bowels, but I will ascribe that to the large quatities of salt water I am injesting as well. Four days(?) into this, I had a day with no breast pain whatsoever, no twinges, no tingles, no nuttin! :) My dreams have been quite vivid, quite coherent. They are actually functional dreams rather than the dreams which seem to be an endless series of snippets reaching no resolution. One night as I was falling asleep I was dreaming purely in sound(the *voices*) It was way cool..
I have learned that other nutrients are key when supplementing with iodine. Now these are particular to the iodine flush, which is a whole 'nother subject, but I think that it's a good idea to use these in the fibro therapy as well. 1500 mg. buffered/ester C 2x per day(taken 2 hrs. away from iodine supplementation), this assists in removing heavier halogens(chlorine/flouride/bromide) from body tissues, so that iodine can reclaim it's rightful place....1 teaspoon
Sea Salt & a LOT of water to keep kidneys moving bromides out of body..
Other supplements are vitally important as well...selenium...now I have been eating a LOT of brazil nuts, but still not enough since(oh what a journey of discovery this is!) my sleep patterns are still disturbed. I have begun supplementing with 100 mcg. selenium 2x per day. That's almost 300% of the RDA(we really need to come up with something new there, recoomended daily amount? My ass! How about Ridiculously Dreadful...oh, I dunno, work on that, you wordsmiths!). My sleep is better now, in fact, I slept 8 hours last night!
Other vital nutrients are magnesium, manganese, chromium...I took the easy way out on this one, too, and bought some concetrace mineral drops. I want to be sure to supply my body with these nutrients as I am now getting more iodine than I have in years.
According to all that I've read, I can expect an eradictaion of any pain within 3 months. Already, the pain is diminishing. Maybe a twinge or two a day. As I massage my breast, the tenderness seems to be abating. I can expect this condition to be resolved in a year or so. I'll keep you posted! :)
and, THANK YOU VULCANEL!!!!! :)
