non pure sc for disinfecting vegetables, how safe is it? non pure CS for disinfecting vegetables, how safe is it?

here in mexico where i live there is a product foreigners like me use to disinfect vegetables and, fruits and drinking water. it is caled microdyne and is made with distilled water .o448% CS, and animal grenatins (whatever that is) added, presumably as stablizer. you add 4 drops per liter for drinking water and 8 or more for disinfecting the vegies. is this a safe procedure? there are a lot of foreiners living here in mexico and they all use it regularly, also in all the restaurnt which catrer to the tourists. i really wonder about the hazards of long terms use of such products. does anyone have any insights on this? will appreciate it.
