Re: Everything you ever wanted to know about selenium
Lots of interesting reading there!
* high
Iodine on low selenium has a necrotising effect on the thyroid * -my concern at the moment, I've been eating brazil nuts like mad, but I think I need to supplement as well...
*if you have too much
Iodine with respect to selenium you get oxidative damage to the thyroid from high levels of H202* -hmmmm...don't want THAT!
*so me getting sleepy on 12/24 mg
Iodine a day was on higher selenium* -well, I'm certainly not sleepy, so I think I need...more SELENIUM!
*there is an absolute limit on how much iodine you can take because the amount of selenium necessary to offset the
H2O2 (Hydrogen-Peroxid) production also starts to interfere with the sulphur based enzymes in the thyroid so its looking like iodine has a failry narrow window of application intensity and it will be coupled with selenium supplementation amounts similar to what is in my compendium* -what amounts in his compendium? Did I miss something?
* in fact iodine supplementation will also increase the need for manganese and possibly chromium*
I do believe that some experimentation is in order. I have now learned that IF I get sleepy(not lately) then that means that my selenium intake is too high. Well, it's obviously too low right now, I'm going supplement shopping!
So, selenium, manganese, chromium, magnesium, what else?
* arsenic is a selenium antagonist and inhibits selenium uptake into the thyroid* - HA! yet another argument against kelp!
