I live in California
Near Silicon Valley to be exact. There was a huge rise and interest in Autism (Aspergers) in the last couple of decades. We are definitely an area that has had a pronounced increase in programs, groups, therapists, etc.
No doubt.
Most of the high functioning aspergers syndrome people came to Silicone Valley during the high days of the 1990's. They were superior at computers. And they stayed. And they had kids.
There is no doubt that Aspergers is passed down. My husband is Aspergers. My child was diagnosed with Aspergers. Both are extremely intelligent, high functioning humans. Both have pretty severe social problems (not looking people in the eyes, compulsive problems, depression, etc).
I do believe that
vaccinations are key to this, but for the San Francisco Bay Area, I think there is a very easily understood migration. Personally, I don't mind living with my two aspergers men. It's like being in a think tank all the time.
