Just wanted to pass this along with regards to dental implants. My mother-in-law recently had an implant installed and it has caused problems, ever since. There is the possibility that the body will reject the implant, outright, and cause serious complications. Then, there's the milling process of the implanted tooth, itself, to mesh with the natural bite of the patient - if that procedure is done incorrectly, the rest of the mouth will be thrown off, causing grinding, improper chewing, offset jaw, TMJ, etc.
I can't say much about root canals - I've had one and will never opt for another.
