Hearing loss, Extreme paranoia ?

Hi,

Years ago I started hearing a ringing in my left ear. Ever since I have been vary aware of my surroundings and loud noises.

Earlier today, I was listening to my headphones - always at a unusually low volume, sometimes I can't even hear the song. But, still there were a couple tracks recorded at different volumes... the second song, though my CPU's volume was low... on the MP3 player was high and the drums kicked in big time... I removed the headphones immediately. But should I worry about hearing damage. I am very very paranoid after anything like that. Is this normal or justified?

It seems impossible to always avoid really loud noise, even for a short while -- in every day life. If something like this shouldn't bother me, I don't want to go through life feeling miserable all the time when something like it happens.

Thanks for any help.
