EXACTLY. The dogs don't have opinions... they just do as their told. Kids, meanwhile, can be argumentative, actually form opinions and have ideas, so perhaps they're not as "desirable". People value their dogs over their kids (or refuse to have kids and have dogs as their "babies") have serious control issues. They don't want an actual animal or a child, they want a life-size barbie doll forever that they can make do whatever they want.
