As Vitamin Content of Milk Rises, Disease Drops

i found this interesting section from weston prices' book i thought i would share. for years, price had butter samples sent to him from all over the country. he found that the vitamin content of the butter rose and fell during the year, depending on what the cows were eating. the highest vitamin butter always was produced during the spring when the cows fed on rapidly gorwing green grass.

then he took that data and cross referenced it with the incidence of childhood disease. what he found was that during the months when the vitamin cotnent of butter was high, new incidents of childhood diseases declined. during the months when the vitamin content was low, new incidents of disease rose. god only knows what price would think of what passes for milk and butter these days. here is a short passage.

Price, p. 387

"new incidents of the childhood diseases chicken pox, measles, nephritis, scarlet fever, (he lists a few more unusual diseases) were arranged according to the incidence for each month. all of these diseases show a relatively high incidence during February and March, rising in December and January, falling during April and May, reaching a very low level in midsummer and then making a rapid increase during mid autumn. these disease rates are opposite to the vitamin content found in the dairy products for the same month."
