Hi Twinny, I think in my case the ME was caused by Orgarnophosphate pesticide cattle dressing [for the warble fly] Our Min Of Agriculture made all farmers treat their cattle with the stuff, with no instructions as to how dangerous it is. My husband and I became ill, as did lots of farmers who had used the same chemical as sheep dip.[orgarnophosphate was developed by the nazis in the 2nd world war for chemical warfare and used by the US as 'agent orange' in Vietnam.]My own illness may have been compounded by mercury fillings in teeth, several different viruses, worms, candida, and lots of stress [we were too ill to work, and eventually lost the farm to the bank. I was looking after my very old Mum as well] Orgarnophosphate is not used in the UK any more, but was used for a time as a treatment for 'nits'. I heard of two little sisters who developed ME from that treatment.I believe that ME/CFS [in the US] is caused by the body's immune system becoming overwhelmed by one or several causes.
