Re: pouring boiling water in things?

Hi, My Granny who lived in poor parts of India and GB as a soldier's wife always pored boiling water over the chopping board and other cooking utensils to kill the bugs. She then sprinkled salt over it and gave it a scrub before pouring more boiling water over the board and the brush, and I do the same. It seems to work .Deotima.
