Re: Silver Puppy Question...PPM

I have a TDS-3 meter. I purchased it with the Silver Puppy. Would you recommend I purchase a Hanna meter?

JAB

I'm not sure maybe the set point (conductivity at which silver puppy turns off) is set lower on your Silver Puppy. Maybe my meter is wrong instead of yours. My meter came with calibration fluid though.

If you have a multi Meter that will Measure current, connect the leads to each electrode of your silver puppy. Around 1 mA should be flowing. If much less than 1 mA that could be one reason it is taking longer.

I believe my meter cost $45. Also I let it run until the light went out. Correct?

JAB

Correct. When the light turns off it is done. I use regular DC mode on auto.

It took 11.5 hours for 1 quart.

JAB

Times will vary and 1 quart is quite a bit. Your meter is consistant. Your getting 7 PPM disolved solids. Silver solids are different than other solids and you may just need a formula to calculate for silver.
