For years coconut oil was treated as the very worst form of plant, as unhealthy as animal fats. We now know that is false, but old teachings die hard. People still think the partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are perfectly acceptable and products like Crisco and other vegetable shortenings are considered healthy. My Naturopath told me common oils in processed foods like cottonseed oil and Canola oil are among the worst; they can even clog the tiny arteries around the eyes and can lead to blindness. Sometimes you have to first read and study both sides of the story, trust your own instincts and self experiment. More and more nutritional experts are singing the praises of coconut oil, but those educated by the old school philosophy will most likely not be willing to change.
