I have had my Mirena for 3 and 1/2 years. The first FULL year, I spotted off and on for several days at a time, once to twice a month. The color has always been dark, like old blood, but very little, not really even enough of it to wear a tampon.

After the 1st year, it seemed to only occur monthly like a normal period would, but the spotting remained the same.

I am getting mine removed tomorrow morning...after readign these posts, I understand that this is a device not to be played with..it's side effects have hurt my marraige, my kids and my life as a whole.

Symptoms:

moodiness
anxiety
night sweats
Acne extremely dry skin
loss of appetite
teeth grinding
no energy or motivation
purple bags under my eyes
no sex drive
pain after sex

I could go on.

I feel like I've aged at least 5-10 yr
