Low stomach acid - need help

Hi

I have been suffering from a host of gastric disorders for a long time. The doctors initially have diagnosed it as IBS. I had almost constant bloating, gas and cramps. I have had colonoscopy, abdominal and pelvic CAT scan. Everything came out normal. Endscopy revealed linear ulcer like striations in esophagus and haital hernia. The doctor prescribed proton pump inhibitor and a prokinetic agent. I have not taken them. I never had heart burn and I have a feeling that my consumption of peppermint capsules has resulted in hiatal hernia. I have cramps, and no hunger. I have reasonably good bowel movement, but I have to go more than twice. I suspected low stomach acid and since then I have been taking concentrated lime juice. I seem to feel better. I am also taking pancreatic enzymes and they seem to help to some extent.

I am afraid to eat anything as it is sure to cause me more trouble. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone can provide me suggestions, diagnosis, or physician recommendations. I live in NJ, USA.

Thanks
