Tonic water: Yay or nay?

What's the collective stance on carbonated water, just as an occasional thing? I know the carbonation in general is considered none too good, but It sure makes life easier when you can drink a tonic and lime at a bar....You don't get as many sideways looks from the waitstaff.

I used that little search function on the right (thanks pepe!) and got some good info, but I'd still like to see if anyone has an adamant opinion. Tweet
