Re: Why do anorexics have health problems? - EDIT

I confused this with Bulimia as well. Thanks to honeysucklerose for pointing that out. However, I feel that some of the points are still applicable...

======================

I would say some of the bad food they eat (and they eat junk!) does get absorbed before purging (therfore a net waste/acid gain for the body).

They also do not retain the vitamins and minerals from fruits or other good things they might manage to ingest so malnutrition sets in (another negative).

Most are generally on medication of some sort, probably psychological drugs in most cases (another acid gain).

Most are depressed as MH says (that can't help health).

And many lead poor daily lifestyles because they have poor opinions of themselves, and thus I would speculate stay up late, sleep late, and do not play or get enough fresh air and sunshine.

Your question is good but is easily explained once you break down what the anorexic really is.

Best,Pb
