My name is Michelle Meader and I am writing to you in reference to my husband Robert Meader. He went into the hospital on November 7th with septic shock. He had a heart attack that evening and his kidneys started failing as well. He has circulatory problems too. I was told he had Chronic Colitis. He doesn’t eat and says he’s full. They are giving him TPN but he keeps pulling out the pick line. He has severe diarrhea and was putting out 15 liters a day of watery stool. He is taking three different types of medications to help his stool slow down and thicken up, but it is not working. He has had this diarrhea since he was in the hospital. They have done two colonoscopy’s with no results as to why he’s having the diarrhea. Cancer was ruled out. He is on pain medications that are making him delusional and disorientated, he’s been combative and the hospital security was called to keep him calm. My husband has had a previous problem with his stomach and they did a colonoscopy a year ago and found nothing. I was told because of the sepsis, the lining in his stomach sluffed off and would have to regenerate another, I do not know if that has happened. He complains about it hurting when he tries to eat, but has stopped eating because of the pain. The doctors that are treating him say they are at a loss as to what to do next. My husband needs help and I don’t know where to get help. He will die if this doesn’t get taken care of. He is in Swedish American Hospital in Rockford Illinois.
