Re: Just a few words- from a Recovered Anorexic

Hi! Thank you for sharing your story. You're so lucky to have had your family's support. (My family denies I have an eating disorder even though my BMI is 16)

I just wanted to add one book that helped me a lot is "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay. It's all about changing your thought patterns. Everyone should give it a read, it's an excellent, easy to read, yet powerful book.

I also found that learning about the nutritious, restoring and detoxing power of foods has helped me not view food as an enemy, but instead see it as something to HELP my body and make me beautiful. For example, I used to be terrified of fats (I had the typical mentality that eating fat will make me fat), but I had Acne so I started looking for natural Acne cures, and low and behold they recommended flaxseed oil and fish oil. So I started taking both and my Acne got better and I didn't gain any weight like I feared. Now, I have no problem with eating fat at all. Instead, I view healthy foods as something to help make me feel and look better.

Moderate exercise like walking or swimming, and connecting with nature as often as possible also helps immensely.
