Go one level up from the all the files. then delete the folder that they are in.  Same principle applies as when getting rid of a lot of pieces of bric-brac. (junk) You put all the stuff in something, like a box (or a folder in this case) and then get rid of the box.

If they are not 'in' a folder, make one called junk and drag the files into it.
