Zapping can be very effective for a number of microorganisms, but I'm not sure about its effectiveness for giardia. Perhaps someone else can contribute here. I agree with zoebess that grapefruit seed extract could be beneficial for giardia since it is a cyst as opposed to a bacteria or virus. I do know that ozonating water can completely eliminate giardia in contaminated water. Chlorine will not touch it, even though both are technically oxidizers. This is why 100,000 people in the Twin Cities area and 10,000 in Kelowna BC were hospitalized in 1996 with sickness caused by giardia from contaminated water supplies. What's your group on yahoo?
