The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) and the Kenosha Congregations United for Serving Humanity (CUSH) Mental Health Task Force managed to convince the Kenosha Unified School District that TeenScreen would best serve our city's teen suicide problem. Without school board knowledge, the district agreed to implement TeenScreen to evaluate every 8th grader by this February. The newly formed Kenosha Parents Union (KPU) http://www.KenoshaParentsUnion.org presented the case against TeenScreen at a school board committee meeting, and from all indications, TeenScreen will not be implemented here at the school district level. We are alarmed, however, that the Kenosha County health department, intends to adopt TeenScreen county-wide... so the fight continues.
