Well, I made a contraption with the ends of the 2 cables exposed about 1/2 an inch, then secured one to each end of the battery with a rubber band.

Now I grab and hold the positive and negative with my thumb and forefinger to make contact [battery in betewwn] and slip the free end of the negative between my forefinger and ring finger [much like holding chopsticks] - this leaves the positive side and the left hand free to just touch the inside when ready. This way it takes literally a couple of seconds to energize my water. (I use a martini shaker - very handy.)

Just make sure the exposed ends are not touching the battery when you store it, so that the battery is not drained.

If I am unsure of the battery charge, I touch the ends a bit longer, and can feel mild heat.

As for your second question - CZ is made up of an entire community of friends, and quite often referred to as "CureZone Family" - that is what CZ is about: a whole group of friends sharing with friends, so we're friends already!
