Re: Regarding chelation prior to removal
i really hate it when practioners or drs do that, tell patients they have to get well before removing mercury. all i can tell you is from my own experience and with working with patients for many years now, it is false. you need to get the poison out and then you can supplement quite a lot and get well.
mercury causes autoimmune disorders, which means the healthier you are, the better able your body is to attack itself. arsenic is much less toxic than mercury, but when you go to the dr for arsenic poisoning, do they send you home saying we want you to get healthier before we get rid of the poison? granted, arsenic is ususally seen in higher quantities, because it is often used to poison people, but still i feel the comparison is valid because it is a heavy metal and shares many of the same exact symptoms as mercury. since the mercury is a relatively low amount in the system, comparitively, the symptoms are not as severe. nonetheless, it makes no sense at all to me to leave a poison in the body until someone gets healthier, if they even can.
over the years many patients have called me and complained of this very thing, asking me for help and my opinions, because their practioners had them on things to improve them before removal, most of which were chelators. note that some chelators are mobilizers and some binders which carry the mercury out of the body. one has to take both in order to get mercury out. even if the practioner is smart enough to use a sufficient spectrum for results, the original source of the mercury is still there and those chelators pull it from the teeth while chelating from the brain and other organs. that is an unnecessary burden on the body and can make one very sick. in fact, some chelators are worse than others. i can tell you from personal experience that anyone with mercury in their teeth should absolutely avoid vitamin B-12 supplements. chlorophyll and products containing it should also be avoided, as well, and vitamin C should not be taken in high amounts. MSM, l-cysteine, garlic, and any other sulfer based supplements and foods can also make one very sick if they have mercury fillings in their mouths. i don't know for sure about alpha-lipoic acid, how bad it is to take when you have fillings, but i wouldn't chance it, as it does chelate mercury.
these are only my opinions based on my personal experience and experience with patients, so if you don't agree, it's ok. for more info on chelation,
