your mother is in the danger zone if this is a beta blocker she is on. they inhibit the removal of potassium from the bloodstream. i dont suppose she was told not to supplement potassium or watch her potato and banana intake, eh? plus, it is one of thos kinds of drugs that is dangerous to go off of cold turkey. in a natural disaster emergency, it could be a problem.

the best thing to do is get off the drugs and do something about the cause of the high blood pressure. even something as simple as TAKING potassium instead of altering the body chemically to treat it differently will have the same effect. of course, potassium is dirt cheap and those pills she is on cost a pretty penny. drugs are dangerous. do like nancy says and just say no.
