Re: My male cat is fat and has arthritis

If you really want to tackle the weight issue, Invincible is correct and pointing you to switch to a diet of raw food for your cat and kitties. It is the most natural thing for a cat to eat a diet of raw meat. They are obligate carnivores and must eat meat protein. If a cat is eating any commercial food, they are eating grains and other junk, which they don't need or shouldn't have. A restricted diet commercial food will just cut down on calories, without the correct protein and carb ratio. If you put you cat on raw food, it would be like putting him on a high protein diet and the weight would come off.

As far as his stiffness or Arthritis issue, if you do switch to a raw diet, this would most likely clear up also. Otherwise you might want to see if you could find a vet that does chiropractic adjustments. That could re-align his spine all the way down and would take off any pressures he might be feeling anywhere in his body. Or the acupuncture could work as well.

To help with the night crying you might want to try giving him some Bach Flower Essences, Rescue Remedy, like 4 drops a few times a day and see if he calms down a little bit. He might be picking up on your energy knowing that you are going to move and he might be anxious about this. Talk to him and tell him all about his new home and how great it will be and this might help him as well. They do understand us, but most of us don't understand them.
