If you have a middle ear infection as you suspect, I would (and have) follow filling the ear canal with cs with a small wad of cotton to keep the silver in place so that it might pass through the ear drum into the middle ear. It took about 3 weeks of this treatment to clear an infection in my left ear. Now every time I shower, I wash out my ears with cs.
