First of all - great link, thanks. It's good to see that bit about peripheral neuropathy, because I've just had a really bad placement grade, because I tried to get this doctor to investigate loiaisis in a patient with elephantine skin (aka hyperkeratosis) and peripheral neuropathy. As an Occupational therapy student I'm not allowed to make diagnoses, but I didn't see the harm in suggesting that they investigate this option, especially as the patient was from West Africa, and they had been unable to diagnose anything. They blanked me. Completely. They prefer to think it's Yars disease (vector-transmitted syphillis) which has been cleared up by an Antibiotic accidentally taken in the Patient's history for another condition even though the Patient's skin and neuropathy have been getting worse over the last few months.

Secondly, Boldyloxx, I agree with apxr. I think you should give the doctor the benefit of the doubt. Because you yourself have come up with the theory that a particular NT-blocker will help. The doctor has given you the appropriate drug which will have that action (I presume that you have checked out the chemistry yourself, because I don't do chemistry). So, it doesn't matter whether the doc is an idiot or not. Continue with your protocol. You've been lucky enough to have the appropriate tools. If it works, You would also be providing an explanation of why people do get better from DP, when they are taking a anti-psychotic.
