I understand your situation. I am starting my fast two days before Yom Kippur. Come Monday sundown, I am going to be expected to eat. It's the holiest day of the Jewish calendar and the gathering is extremely formal. I can't just not show up, I can't insult my host by refusing the food.

I still don't know how I will handle it, but delaying the start of the fast to Tuesday is not acceptable.
