"Uniformity for FOod Act" - -Take Action NOW!!!!

The "Uniformity for Food Act" is an industry-sponsored bill that leaves out the important protections certain states already have in place. If passed, states that wanted to keep tougher standards for food labeling would need approval from the Food and Drug Administration, the same body that has come under fire for mislabeling organic milk and has been slow to issue consumer warnings.

This bill would eliminate many local and state labeling requirements, such as those for foods or beverages made with genetically modified organisms, Monsanto's recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH), or with ingredients that increase your risk of cancer, birth defects, allergic reactions and mercury poisoning when consumed.

In total, The Food Uniformity Act would wipe out more than 200 laws in all 50 states, many of which have HIGHER safety standards than those outlined in the Food Uniformity Act!
