I knew that statement would get somebody's gander and I love you for taking the stance that you take. :)
However, I myself have researched quite deeply into the relationship between people and animals. Did you know that every tribe on this earth has a ritual for calling an animal for consumption, and that animals always answer when the tribe is in need? That is why many tribes wear animal skins, to honor the sacrifice of the animal, so that the bond between humans and animals is forever acknowledged and respected.
Cows especially were worshipped and cosidered sacred for everything they give to humans - milk, butter, leather, meat. Then the reasons for the worship were forgotten and suddenly you weren't supposed to eat the sacred cow, it was a sin.
Now the cows in India are starved, parasitic weaklings with no one to take care of them.
