Do you always need antibiotics to get better??

Hi. I'm a newbie and could use some advice...I was diagnosed a year ago and think I'm on day 3 of my second attack....either that, or I have a minor flu bug that's aggravating my diverticulitis. I had a fever of 101 or so for the first day and a half, and had bad pain in my lower abdomen. My fever has gone away, and the pain is better, but not completely gone. It still feels like someone punched me in my stomach (which is exaclty what my first attack felt like) My question is, since I seem a bit better and have no more fever, is it OK to wait it out, or do you all think I should go to the DR. for Antibiotics ?? Does one's body ever kill the infection by itself?? I really don't want to go to the Dr. because he will probably make me get another CT scan, etc...Any advice will greatly be appreciated. Thanks!!
