Re: Well, here it is Sunday evening.....
Me, too, Paulette. I remember when I was growing up just how much I did not like Sunday evenings. Even though I liked school I still preferred the weekends. Simply did not want to see them end. But, alas, they did.
On weekends I get to sleep in. All the way to 5:30 or 6:00. M-Th it is rise and shine at 3:30. And it catches up with me by Fridays. I try to find something to enjoy at work as much as any other place. On days when I am so sleepy I will ask other people if my "beauty sleep" is working or not. Usually gets a smile. Sometimes I will find a new joke and spread it around the first thing after I get to work. If ever I am asked "How's it going?" or "How are you?", I will answer something like "Other than grunting too much, I feel marvellous!" Normally if someone is grumpy with me I will inquire if they have a particular problem on their mind. Most will say no, but sometimes all they needed was an ear. No advice. Just someone to listen.
I suppose we all have small things that help shape us. I related earlier about the waitress and another small thing was a young college-age check-out clerk at an organic foods store. The man in the checkout line ahead of me was a pure a**hole. The young clerk was unfazed and even smiled and wished him well. I remarked that I admired how she handled the situation. She said something to the effect "If he wants to live like that, that is his choice. He cannot enter my space. I am in control of my space and in total control of it!!" SHE WAS SO RIGHT !! I adopted the attitude then and still use it many years later.
Even with all that said, I do not look forward to Monday mornings.
