Good thinking, Wombat!
Everyone needs information about what is safe/non-damaging in self-gratification.
Theory is all well and good, and each person may attempt abstinance or channeling the energy elsewhere, as ideas occur to them.
But, the more immediate question, in this case, is 'what are you doing now that is damaging?' (if anything).
If you suspect ANYTHING, Kevin, get yourself to a sexologist, quick!
The very least they can tell you is whether your practices are similar to others, and the level of safety you are exposed to.
Yes, you will have to speak to a sexologist face to face, and you may be shy, but they are very good at putting people at ease. That's basic in their training.
Whether they tell you something you didn't know, or not, you are going to feel relief that one more important area of investigation has been covered.
Wouldn't it be great to learn that you are simply allowing too much tension in your muscles?
