Re: Hyperkeratosis and Lip Structure

I'm not sure.

Cureforcurezone confirmed that his/her biopsy showed hyperkeratosis. It also showed several other things which I'm not sure of the meaning of.

I'm not even sure if taking something like fish oil internally would moisturize the lips since they don't have oil glands. I think we need a combination of a good moisturizer and something that reduces keratin. But I have no idea what that would be.

An interesting note, my biopsy showed acanthosis, which is a thickening of the prickle-cell layer, similar to in psoriasis. The thickening of this layer also has to do with keratin. Basikally the skin cells reproduce too fast, thus keratin builds up, hence the scaly skin.

So in either case, whether its hyperkeratosis or acanthosis, we have a problem with keratin deposit. Lack of oil glands may or may not be a contributing factor. Once we rule out that there is no internal reason for this keratin build up, than we can address the keratin directly.

So step 1: we all rule out any kind of bacteria, fungal, and parasitic infection
step 2: rule out toxic substances in our liver, kidney, and colon
step 3: make sure the ph in our stomach/intestines is ok
step 4: rule out any mineral/vitamin imbalances
step 5: rule out anything that I'm missing , any ideas?
step 6: work directly on reducing keratin. This will likely involve an approach as if we have Psoriasis and eczema.

I have already approached this as if it were psorasis/eczema (ignoring the possibility of an internal trigger), and I wasn't sucessful. I used Transfer Factor, which is possibly the most advanced immune modulator in the world. Since this didn't work, I suspect that there is maybe an internal problem that is triggering this hyperkeratosis/acanthosis. I have already ruled out toxins, and my stool test results will probably rule out any kind of infection.

If an internal problem isn't present, and if a psoriasis/eczema approach isn't successfull, then our keratin build up is independent of eczema/psoriasis, and we'll need some sort of product that works directly on keratin.

One thing that I can't seem to tie together is why our lips are raw after we let the skin fall off. I don't know if this raw skin is another indicator of keratin problems.
