In the space of about eight weeks before and after christmas,
I know of 4 people who died.

All were in their late sixties or thereabouts and not in seemingly bad health.

A friend of mine's mother died when she was in hospital with a bowel
complaint, but subsequently died when her lungs gave out!! What is that
about?

A man who lived two doors down from her on the street died within three
weeks after getting emphysemia. By chance I talked to his wife recently
and she told me that his health had been fine up until that. Doctors
weren't able to enlighten her as to how this came about.

Another friend of mine's parents died within six weeks of each other rather
suddenly before christmas. I saw him recently and didn't press him too much
but he mentioned just that his father had been experiencing breathlessness
for a while and just suddenly died. I don't know what the mother died of yet.
I didn't like to press him too much.

I remember Don Croft talking about how the obituary columns are filling up
more and more with deaths of the elderly due to various organ failures and
respiratory diseases.
