Insight into tiredness and anxiety
Hi Swami
My name is Kathryn (19 Jan 1972) and I live in Exeter, England. I've never been pregnant. For the last 10 years or so I have been suffering from general tiredness. About 5 years ago I lost a lot of weight for no apparent reason and have been unable to put it back on since then no matter how much I eat (I am very thin). Around this time I also started to get pain in my neck/shoulders/jaw/headaches. I've seen osteopaths and chiropractors but have come to the conclusion that it is probably stress related. For many years I have also suffered from intermittent anxiety, however for the last 3 years it has got worse and I know feel anxious all the time. All though it is not extreme (I have never had a panic attack) it makes life very uncomfortable and confusing, especially as I often don't know what has triggered it. I also have suffered from sensitive teeth for the last 4 years in the right side of my mouth after having a number of fillings.
For the last 6 months I've been off work with stress/anxiety/mild depression etc. Through psychotherapy I realise that there are issues with my childhood (anxious environment) that have shaped the way I think and I am working on freeing myself of these negative beliefs/patterns through using the Emotional Freedom Technique. In the last couple of months I have started to feel a bit better but still feel exhausted. Over the years I've had a number of routine medical tests but they haven't come up with anything other than my iron levels being a bit low. A Reiki healer recently said that energy wise I was 'empty' and an acupunturist said my blood had low chi. I just wondered if there was any medical or nutritional reason for me feeling so tired, or is it just as a result of negative thought patterns/anxiety or perhaps because I am 'giving my energy away' to other people. I'm never sure if the anxiety makes me tired or vice versa as the anxiety seems to get worse when I get very tired.
Thanks very much for your time and care
Kathryn
