Vet wants to give kitty antibiotics

hello! I rescued this injured kitty last night and took him to the vet. He had an absess on his toe, which the vet cleaned out, but it's still open and the vet wants to give antiobiotics. What do you guys think? Do you think it can heal without antiobiotics? I'm sure I will not be able to put cayenne pepper on it! This cat is feral (for now).
