Re: Has anyone taken animal fat out of their diet?

While I obviously have not DIED, I do definitely feel a difference when I eat animal products and when I don't.

These are the conclusions I'm drawing with regard to animal products/fat and MD. These are anecdotal conclusions and have never been tested:

1. Everyone knows that muscle cells and tissue are created in the body through proteins. Most people believe the way to increase your protein levels is by increasing the amount of meat, dairy, and eggs in the diet. Most definitely, the adults I have met who have various forms of MD, with the exception of those who have either cured it (yes, there are a few who have cured their MD) or have it under control, eat massive amounts of animal products.

2. When I eat animal products- ANY animal products- my bowel/intestinal function slows way down, I develop sinus/ear/postnasal mucous symptoms, I feel pain in my neck, lower back, and hips, I develop muscle cramps in my calves, and my mobility noticibly decreases within 24 hours. I get easily fatigued and have mood swings. I have self-experimented with this so many times I can say it conclusively.

BTW, the EXACT same thing happens any time I drink soft drinks. I would say the two most delitorious (sp?) food items for ME as an MD patient are animal products and soft drinks.

3. The other thing I can say is that doctors really don't know. For example, the medical community believed that FSHD was a protein deficiency, but recently discovered that it is caused by an overproduction of a certain protein.

To jump to the conclusion that animal fat causes MD would be faulty. But to say it could be a factor which should be researched further would be right on, IMHO.

Thank you for the opportunity to answer a good question.

Blessings,
Donna
