Up the Healing Path

One of the math problems that always comes up in my children's textbook at around the 4th or 5th grade is something like:

Death Valley is so many thousand feet below sea level. Mt. Everest is so many thousand feet above sea level. What is the difference between the two heights? And the child sees the word "difference" and thinks "I have to subtract." Every single one of my children has gotten the problem wrong! You actually have to add the two distances to get the right answer, and that adds up to a very big number.

What if someone took it upon himself to climb that distance? It would take planning, and then time, energy, and money to execute the plan.

The Healing Path is like that. I, or any other person who choses to follow the path, must start at the bottom of Death Valley, and start walking out of it. There will be much walking, but the amount of time, energy, and money needed is an unknown at this point.

I started on the Healing Path yesterday, January, 26, 2005, to cure myself of muscular dystrophy. Last night I told my husband John that I had a tiny little strand of hope that I was following. No one in the medical community has a cure for this disease, and I don't know if anyone in the natural healing community does either. But the path I am taking will do me no harm, and if I am healed of every other ailment known to man in the pursuit of a cure for FSHMD, then I will be a very healthy muscular dystrohpy patient. :-D

I am going to document the steps I take in the form of a log or journal. Most of this is going to be boring to read, but I want something that I can refer to or give to others who might want the information later.

Starting yesterday, I quit drinking coffee cold turkey. I had quit drinking it last summer, but my brother started a coffee roasting business this past fall and wanted input on his product. I have to say, my brother's coffee is incredible, and I was hooked again, just like an alcoholic with "just one beer won't hurt."

I substituted my morning two cups of coffee (which, measured, was actually a full quart!!) with two cups (same size coffee cups, so actually a quart) of hot herbal tea with no caffeine. I sweetened it with honey.

The second thing I did was to quit eating breakfast. I no longer eat any breqkfast foods- no dairy (there will be an exception to this which I will explain when I start doing it), no cold cereal, no breakfast meat (sausage, ham, whatever), no eggs (there will be an exception to this, also, but I'm talking scrambled/fried/hardboiled/omelette), no doughnuts/pastries/kolaches/pancakes/waffles... anything with refined white flour in it. No coffee cake, struedel, bagels, toast with jam and butter or margarine, and no coffee, creamer, sugar, half and half, pure cream, or, gasp, biscotti.

What I did do instead was to juice four apples. I have a Champion juicer that I bought used for $100 a couple of years ago. Some people like Green Power, but my only experience is with Champion. Four apples gave me eight ounces of pure apple juice. I put two tablespoons of Dr. Schulze 's Superfood in the apple juice, stirred, and drank it right away. I followed that with eight ounces of regular tap water. That was breakfast.

This morning John told me to order a home water distiller. I know/intuit that home distilled water is the only water I can drink in order to get well. For six months we were buying distilled water in the blue bottles. I recently found out that just because the label says the water is distilled, it isn't necessarily so. We are getting a distiller.

Last night I took two of Dr. Schulze 's Intestinal Formula #1 before I went to bed. My first goal is to get my bowels moving regularly so that I am having a BM for every meal (two a day). At present I have one. In order for me to begin cleansing my body of wastes and for my body to accept the healing herbs and food I place in it, I must have a healthy colon.

The final step I took yesterday was to open all of the bedroom windows a crack to allow fresh air to enter the house. It was warm in the living areas, but cool in the bedrooms. I am not sure how John is going to feel about our utility bills, but fresh air is a part of the healing process.

Blessings,
-Donna
