p 0 r n, testosterone and fundamentalist religion

" It turns otherwise normal guys into tree-swinging, knuckled-dragging apes who simply cannot control their animalistic behaviors."

I thought that men were pre-disposed to acting like this over sex, p 0 r n or no.

You are the king of generalizations. You don't think that there are plenty of god fearing individuals out there participating in various carnal activities, including p 0 r n o g r a p h y? What rock are you living under? It is not p 0 r n that is turning men into these creatures, it is testosterone. Perhaps we should start diluting men's testosterone, perhaps like a birth control pill for men, and then we wouldn't have to worry about them acting like you described. It's the only way to react to your sweeping statements.

I think that it's repression of sex in our society that makes it more of a forbidden fruit. I think that p 0 r n o g r a p h y has some social roots, and although it's not my cup of tea, I don't judge people that are into it. I dislike how woman are victimized, or portrayed in p 0 r no. I think that's sad. But I've seen far worse lately on MTV in some music videos.

And to stop that expression would also be repression. I remember in the 60's when everyone started doing the "jerk". They made us stop dancing like that at the school dances. My parents thought the twist was grotesque.

When I was in Copenhagen, they are very open about sex there, and I noticed that, even on a street full of sex shops, mixed with food and clothing, men were not running around with their knuckles dragging on the ground. I'd say the the atmosphere was more civilized, and the sex thing was rather ho-hum. I spent quite a bit of time there, so I really got a sense of their life and attitude. Most of Europe thinks we are pretty repressed.

This also goes for nudity. Have you noticed that the most sexually repressed counties in the world cover as much of the female body as possible. And in those countries there is so much violence towards women. Makes sense - repression equals lack of respect for women. And in this country, this lack of respect flows right into the Abortion Debate of a womans right over her own body.

I would say that fundamentalist religion has single handedly ripped this nation to shreds, and their puritanical beliefs have caused sex to be quite a dirty little word (practiced by fundamentalists behind closed doors, in appalling ways). So, it makes perfect sense that abortion, a by-product of that dreadful sex, is such a big focus for fundamentalists. Fundamentalists just want sex to go away (except for the closed door perverse behavior).

So, no, you are wrong. p 0 r n has had nothing to do with this. It's been around for so very long. The internet just makes it more convenient. Just think SS, now you don't have to go to another town, wear a disguise, and then hide the stuff under your mattress from your wife. You just need to log on, delete the history, easy breezy.

Tom, I really appreciate your thoughtfulness of what women have to deal with. I'm sorry if we got off on the wrong foot :-). I will admit, in this instance, that I might have misjudged you. But you were going a bit wacky.
