Re: Interesting take on beginning of life
59245,
Hi! I'm back! I noticed a difference in the tone of the forum. Less drama. Much better!
I'm with the viability crowd. I honestly believe that life begins with the first breath.
As it says in Genesis 2 verse 7
"the LORD God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being."
Before the breath of life, Adam was just a sculpture. Just a big fat lump of clay.
I see the fetus as a "spiritual escrow account." It's there for the soul if he takes physical form, but until the deal is closed (breath of life), the ownership belongs to the woman. Not a problem for the soul as it is (always was, and forever will be) alive and well in God's embrace. It can not be "killed".
The woman is growing a body using her own body as raw materials. She is saying "Hey, God! I'm growing a body here for a precious soul! Pick me out a good one!!! I can't wait to meet the one you'll choose for me! I just know I'm going to LOVE it!!!" But sometimes, a woman for whatever reasons does not choose to become a mother at that time. As a mother, I am here to tell you it is the biggest job in the world and to do it wrong is beyond disasterous! It is not a job for everyone. If a woman does not want the job, then I think it is not only her right, but her responsibility to choose to not accept it. That is when a woman might get a "stop work order" (abortion). That is her way of saying, "Oh please God, NO! Please don't force me to be a mother right now. I would fail you, that precious soul, and myself miserably! It is in everyone's best interest that this does not come to pass. There is "no vacancy" at this time."
I know some might see this as using abortion as birth control. BUT let's assume that this woman used contraception and it failed, as has been the case in every single abortion I've ever heard of. Maybe people didn't use condoms back in the seventies or eighties, but let me tell you, they use them now!!!! Unfortunately, they break....and the norplant has been known to wear off early leaving the woman fertile when she was assured by her doctor that she was safe.....and pills are easy to forget, you only have to forget it once!... I knew a girl who got pregnant while she was still a virgin, I swear to God! True story! Heavy, Heavy petting, ejaculation without penetration, but the little swimmers found their way in. Technically, she was practicing ABSTINENCE, and she got pregnant (at 15 years of age) My point is, all forms of birth control can fail. Abortion is a last resort.A drastic measure used to prevent further devastation. No woman alive takes abortion lightly.
Love~
