Case Scenario #1
Tina came from a very poor family. Her father was an alcoholic and her mother was abused by the father. Tina was kicked out of her home at 16, and fell into a bad crowd. She smoked crack, she lived for awhile on the streets. She turned tricks for drugs. She wants to get off the streets.
The public health department has agreed to clean her up, so she goes into rehab, and gets into state controlled housing. They are now training her to get a job via a technical school. She has been clean and sober for 6 months.
One day, an old friend of hers, from the streets, comes by. He has some drugs, of which she ends up taking. This friend stays with her on and off for a couple of weeks, and they get high a few more times. Then she realizes that she will lose her new apartment, government subsidies and will be kicked out of the technical school the government is sending her to. So she kicks the friend out, and resumes her studies. In the meantime, she is being visited by her case worker, who is suspicious that she is falling short of the program.
She is all alone. All her friends live on the streets and are addicts. Her family does not want to see her, nor does she want to see them. She is an atheist.
She finds out she is pregnant at 18. She got pregnant while high on crack. If she continues with the pregnancy, she will lose everything that she has done thus far.
The deed is done. What should Tina do?
