Re: MichelleT, You seem very angry. Is everything ok at home?

Superhero:

Perhaps you agree with MichelleT that all pro-choice people should tell their children that they should be happy they weren't aborted by us? That is the most repugnant thing I've heard yet on this forum. So, here's the deal.

Pro-choice people have their beliefs and rights, just like you do. There is no need to sink to the farthest depths of insulting, degrading comments in order to say what you believe.

Women throughout this entire world are diminished. Diminished in the eyes of the government, diminished in the eyes of religion. In many countries on this earth, they are less than human. They are stoned, they are raped, they are punished for trying to be equal human beings. They are sexually harassed, and then called sluts. They are killed before birth in some countries, because they are not worthy of life. They are stoned to death because of another's sin. They are beaten by their husbands and not protected by the law. They were, until very recent history, not allowed to vote. They must hide behind a veil, or risk the worst.

Why is this? Why does the world see women as vessels, less than equal, inhuman, not worthy? I ask you, if you love your wife and daughters, would you really want them to have to defend their right to be on this earth, and be treated with dignity and respect? That they can hold an equal job? Be protected from harm by men? To walk with their heads high, and free?

It may be hard for you to imagine, but women deal with this every day. In America, we have laws, thank goodness, but it doesn't stop the harassment, or the attitudes. In other parts of the world, it's open season. Can you imagine, for a moment, of being stripped of all your rights? And the right to your most basic bodily functions? Ask your wife how she would feel if she had been told that she could only have two children, and your other two daughters would have been aborted? Now ask your wife, how she would feel, if she had been told to kill her daughter, because girl babies were not valued? It may seem like a backwards argument to you, but believe me, it is not. It is the inherent right of all women to have the control of their reproductive lives.

Now I speak for all women. It is time of women to take control over their bodies. To help other women to make the right choices, whether they are your daughters, your daughters friends, your friends and relatives. You must tell them that the only way we will be successful is to teach each other how not to have a baby. Then, we must cry on each other's shoulder, because the decision of an unplanned pregnancy is so hard. And no matter what your daughter, friend, relative decides, you have to stand next to them. Support for the baby to be born, support for the child that will not be. Because my dear Superhero, it's the hardest choice that NO man will ever make. It is for us alone.
