You make a great point.

What you just described is how many people lead their lives. In this case, instead of looking at the photo and having an overwhelming feeling of awe and beauty for human life, many people have a natural inclination to rip into/degrade the meaning or purpose of the picture. Many individuals lead their lives with such pent up anger, pessimism and skepticism that they are blinded by life's beauty.
