He didn't ask Abraham to murder his own son just for the sake of doing it, He wanted to see how faithful Abraham was and if He would trust the Lord in all things, and when the Lord saw that he was going to sacrifice his son, God provided an animal to take the son's place and as a result said He would bless the generations that would come from Abraham
