Re: need to lose!
Thanks for the info. I basically eat organic everything except for the low-carb shakes. I'm lucky to have a big health food store nearby and I don't mind paying a little extra. I think it is definitely worth it and I find that like you said, it just tastes better too.
My other little things I'm adding in on days that I'm eating are: a cup or two of green tea, a couple packets of Emergen-C lite for the antioxidants and electrolytes, some fish-oil capsules (Nature's Way Fisol is my favorite brand for this since they are enteric-coated so you don't get that fish-tasting burp afterwards).
I'm also doing toning exercises every-other-day.
Anyway, egg salad sounds like a really yummy dinner.
I really seem to have little appetite and this is just day four so I have high hopes this will work since it has for me in the past.
I forgot how much better I feel when I don't eat high-carb foods. Also, I find I have really no self-control when it comes to eating things like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and sugary pastries. I just end up craving more and I have no sense of moderation with these things.
It has recently hit me that for me, I just need to abstain from those types of foods completely. Every time I've had success with weight loss, it's been with higher protein and lower to moderate carbs. I still love and believe in fruits and vegetables but I'm going to add more of those back carefully once I'm closer to my goal.
An interesting thing I read recently:
"Ultimately though the way to manage any addiction is through complete abstinence. The reason most people struggle with giving up
Sugar is that they are still eating grains. The grains break down to
Sugar and perpetuate the addiction."
I know I'm going on but I'm feeling really good and motivated at the moment, like finally everything is really clicking.
A really good book I recommend reading is "Sugar Blues"--it will really open your eyes up to how evil
Sugar is.
Well, lots of luck to you and your S.O.!
